Panthers 6, Hurricanes 1: Vincent Trocheck scored two goals and set up another, Jaromir Jagr pulled into a tie for fourth place on the all-time scoring list and Roberto Luongo posted his 400th career victory as host Florida completed a sweep of the three-game season series.

Jagr and Aleksander Barkov each recorded a goal and an assist, with the former pulling even with Ron Francis at 1,798 career points, as the Panthers remained six points behind Boston for the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with four games to play. Captain Willie Mitchell and Brandon Pirri also scored while Luongo made 31 saves en route to becoming the 11th goaltender in league history to reach the 400-win plateau.

Chris Terry converted a power-play opportunity with 1:19 left in the third period for the Hurricanes' only goal in their three meetings with Florida. Anton Khudobin turned aside 29 shots for Carolina, which was outscored 9-1 in the series.

Florida opened the scoring with 50 seconds remaining in the first period as Jimmy Hayes tapped a faceoff win by Trocheck back to Mitchell, who wristed the puck between Khudobin's pads from the top of the slot. Pirri doubled the lead five minutes into the second, beating the netminder with a turnaround shot from the right circle for his ninth goal in 11 games.

Barkov helped give the Panthers a 3-0 lead exactly eight minutes later, when he made a pass from behind the net to Jagr for a shot from the slot. The 19-year-old Finn buried his own rebound during a 2-on-1 rush with 3 1/2 minutes left in the session, and Trocheck scored from the top of the slot at 6:07 of the third before burying a rebound in front 38 seconds later to cap his first career two-goal performance.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jagr's goal was the 721st of his career, pulling him within 10 of Marcel Dionne for fourth place on the all-time list, while his 1,077th assist put him two behind Adam Oates for sixth in NHL history. ... Trocheck's first goal, which ended a 15-game drought, was his first in 23 contests at home this season. ... Hayes and C Jonathan Huberdeau each recorded a pair of assists for Florida.
