Canadiens 2, Flyers 1 (OT): David Desharnais scored 3:27 into overtime as host Montreal recorded its third win in a row and eighth in 10 games.

Desharnais skated in and had his initial shot from the right faceoff circle denied by the left pad of Ray Emery (39 saves), who played in place of the injured Steve Mason and was making his first start since Jan. 27. The NHL's Third Star of the Week, Desharnais was able to collect his own rebound and tap it home to send Bell Centre into a frenzy.

Tomas Plekanec also tallied for the Canadiens, who won all three meetings with Philadelphia this season - including two that went past regulation. All-Star Carey Price finished with 23 saves to reach the 30-victory plateau for the second straight campaign and third time in his career.

Matt Read scored 51 seconds into the first period for his first goal in 26 contests for the Flyers, who fell to 5-0-2 in their last seven games. Wayne Simmonds notched an assist on Read's fourth tally for his sixth point in as many contests.

Philadelphia drew first blood for the fifth consecutive contest as Simmonds breezed up the middle of the ice before setting up Read, who wristed a shot from the top of the left circle that beat Price for his first goal since Dec. 11. The slim advantage held up until Emery failed to locate a rebound, allowing an unmarked Plekanec to send a backhand shot into the net following a scrum in the crease with 7:22 left in the third.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Mason will be sidelined two-to-three weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced prior to the game. ... Flyers D Luke Schenn sat out due to a lower-body injury. ... A moment of silence was observed prior to the game for Claude Ruel, who died on Monday. Ruel coached the Canadiens to a Stanley Cup title in 1969.
