Islanders 7, Flyers 4: Nikolay Kulemin collected two goals and an assist while captain John Tavares scored for the second straight game as host New York moved into first place in the Eastern Conference.

Tavares, Michael Grabner and defenseman Nick Leddy each scored and set up a goal for the Islanders, who have won five of six overall and three straight versus Philadelphia. Josh Bailey and Anders Lee also tallied, blue-liner Johnny Boychuk celebrated his 31st birthday by notching two assists and Jaroslav Halak finished with 25 saves.

Flyers captain Claude Giroux, Chris VandeVelde, former Islander Mark Streit and fellow defenseman Michael Del Zotto scored while All-Star Jakub Voracek notched two assists to increase his NHL-leading point total to 55. Rob Zepp yielded four goals on 20 shots before being replaced midway into the second period by Ray Emery (18 saves) as Philadelphia permitted a season high in goals en route to its fourth loss in six games.

Grabner breezed around Flyers defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo and reeled in Kulemin's feed before wristing a shot over Zepp's glove 1:32 into the contest to open the scoring. Kulemin doubled the advantage 6 1/2 minutes later, forcing a turnover before cleaning up the rebound of Boychuk's shot from the point for his 10th goal.

With Philadelphia on the power play, Matt Read's turnover led to Kulemin beating Zepp on a breakaway 4:53 into the second period to give New York a 3-0 lead. The Flyers' blue-liners sandwiched goals around Bailey's eighth tally, but Frans Nielsen's nifty feed set up Tavares' backhand shot with eight seconds remaining in the middle session to net the Islanders a 5-2 advantage.
