Avalanche 5, Senators 2: Jarome Iginla registered his third two-goal performance of the season as host Colorado rolled to victory.

Daniel Briere and defensemen Brad Stuart and Erik Johnson also scored for the Avalanche, who extended their home winning streak against Ottawa to four games. Alex Tanguay and Ryan O'Reilly each recorded a pair of assists while Semyon Varlamov made 36 saves two days after turning aside a career-high 54 shots in a shutout win at Chicago.

Mark Stone and Bobby Ryan tallied for the Senators, who suffered their third straight loss to fall to 0-1-1 on their four-game road trip and 2-4-2 in their last eight overall. Craig Anderson allowed three goals on nine shots before being replaced by Robin Lehner, who finished with 10 saves.

Iginla opened the scoring at 8:20 of the first period with a shot from high in the right faceoff circle and Stuart doubled the lead nine minutes later by beating Anderson to the stick side with a one-timer from the blue line. Stone converted a pass from captain Erik Karlsson three minutes into the middle session to halve the deficit, but Johnson ripped a shot past a screened Anderson 53 seconds later to restore the two-goal advantage.

Iginla made it 4-1 just 23 seconds into the third, taking a cross-slot feed from Tanguay and beating Lehner from the right circle during a power play. Ryan scored off a giveaway by Johnson 42 seconds later to get Ottawa within two before Briere drilled a shot past Lehner from the right circle at 2:40 to push the lead back to three goals.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tanguay's second assist was his 800th NHL point. ... Iginla now has 572 career goals, one behind Mike Bossy for 20th place on the all-time list. ... Colorado captain Gabriel Landeskog failed to tally, leaving him with one goal in his last 17 contests.
