Islanders 3, Blackhawks 2: Defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky scored the go-ahead goal 51 seconds after Kyle Okposo tied it midway through the third period as New York snapped visiting Chicago's eight-game winning streak.

Cal Clutterbuck added an unassisted goal as the Islanders halted a three-game skid and avoided back-to-back home losses for the first time this season. Jaroslav Halak bounced back from a pair of ugly performances to make 23 saves and improve to 7-1-3 versus the Blackhawks.

Daniel Carcillo and Patrick Kane scored for Chicago, which lost for only the second time in 13 games. Rookie Scott Darling turned aside 38 shots but had his four-start winning streak halted.

Following a scoreless opening period, New York recorded the first nine shots of the middle session, but the Blackhawks struck first as Carcillo's shot from the high slot bounced up and over Halak before entering the net at 14:25. The Islanders responded only six seconds later on an awful giveaway by Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith, allowing Clutterbuck to move in alone and tuck a backhand shot past Darling.

The Blackhawks reclaimed the lead 3:46 into the third on a spectacular goal by Kane, who skated into the right faceoff circle and lifted a sizzling backhander just under the crossbar. Okposo drew New York even during a power play by swatting in a long rebound from the left side before Visnovsky weaved through the zone and beat a screened Darling from the left circle with 8:59 to play,

GAME NOTEBOOK: Chicago went 0-for-1 on the power play and is 1-for-25 with the extra skater in its last eight games. ... Visnovsky ended a 17-game goal-scoring drought with his first tally since Oct. 25. ... Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, who exited Thursday's game versus Boston when he was checked head-first into the boards, said he felt "great" and was back in the lineup. He won 10-of-13 faceoffs.
