Rangers 4, Sharks 0: Henrik Lundqvist recorded his 51st career shutout while Martin St. Louis and Rick Nash scored four seconds apart late in the second period as host New York handed San Jose its first regulation loss.

Carl Hagelin netted his first goal of the season and Kevin Hayes recorded his first NHL tally for the Rangers, who have won two straight following a three-game skid. Lundqvist finished with 33 saves and Dominic Moore notched two assists as New York exacted a bit of revenge after a two-game sweep by the Sharks last season.

Already the franchise leader in shutouts, Lundqvist highlighted his first of the season by stopping 15 shots in the second period. The Swedish Olympian received all the offense he needed with 6:59 remaining in the second, as Hagelin alertly lifted San Jose rookie defenseman Mirco Mueller's stick before cleaning up his own rebound.

St. Louis doubled the advantage 6:15 later, stuffing the puck home between the skate of Alex Stalock (25 saves) and the post for his first goal of the season. Nash immediately wristed a weak shot on net following the ensuing faceoff, and Stalock was unable to properly play the puck, leading to the top-line forward beating him between the pads for his league-high seventh goal.

The four-second span between goals tied the Rangers' franchise record, which originally was set by Kris King and James Patrick versus the New York Islanders on Oct. 9, 1991. Hayes capped the scoring in the third, settling the rebound following his wraparound bid before lifting the puck into the net.

GAME NOTEBOOK: San Jose nearly opened the scoring early in the first period, but New York D Matt Hunwick swept the puck off the goal line after Sharks D Jason Demers' slap shot found its way past Lundqvist. ... Sharks D Brent Burns saw his five-game point streak come to an end. He had collected one goal and six assists prior to Sunday's contest. ... San Jose has yet to allow a first-period goal this season.
