Avalanche 4, Oilers 1: Defenseman Erik Johnson scored a goal and set up another as visiting Colorado extended its point streak to eight games (7-0-1).

Paul Stastny, blue-liner Tyson Barrie and Jamie McGinn also tallied for the Avalanche, who moved four points ahead of third-place Chicago in the Central and climbed within two of division- and Western Conference-leading St. Louis. Ryan O'Reilly notched two assists and Jean-Sebastien Giguere turned aside 22 shots as Colorado improved to 4-0-1 in its last five road games.

David Perron scored a power-play goal for the Oilers, who are 1-1-0 on their season-ending four-game homestand. Ben Scrivens finished with 29 saves as Edmonton failed to post a third straight victory.

Colorado got on the board 4:13 into the contest, when Stastny punched in his second attempt at the right post for his 23rd goal. The Oilers knotted it with Johnson in the box for interference, as Perron's cross-crease pass attempt from below the left faceoff circle caromed off Avalanche defenseman Nick Holden's skate and past Giguere with 3:02 left in the first period.

Johnson atoned for his penalty 12 seconds later, rushing down the ice and sneaking around Edmonton blue-liner Jeff Petry before beating Scrivens from the left circle. Barrie created breathing room by drilling a shot from the top of the slot just inside the right post during a power play at 7:34 of the third and McGinn buried a rebound with 3:41 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Avalanche set a franchise record with their 25th road victory. ... Giguere made his first start since March 18 against Montreal. ... Perron's goal was his 28th of the season, snapping a tie with LW Taylor Hall and C Jordan Eberle for the team lead.
