Avalanche 3, Canucks 2 (OT): Defenseman Tyson Barrie tipped Matt Duchene's pass from low along the left-wing boards past Eddie Lack 55 seconds into overtime as host Colorado edged Vancouver.

Duchene and captain Gabriel Landeskog also scored for the Avalanche, who climbed within one point of Chicago for second place in the Central Division. Semyon Varlamov turned aside 29 shots as Colorado evened the three-game season series against the Canucks at one win apiece.

Defenseman Yannick Weber and Zack Kassian tallied for Vancouver, which extended its point streak to four games (3-0-1). Lack finished with 25 saves as the Canucks fell five points behind Phoenix for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.

Vancouver cashed in on a power-play opportunity midway through the first period to open the scoring as Weber pinched from the left point and buried a rebound from the faceoff circle. Duchene forged a tie with 4:20 left in the session, knocking home the rebound of defenseman Andre Benoit's shot from the high slot.

Landeskog received a feed from behind the net by Paul Stastny and beat Lack at the right post at 8:58 of the second to put Colorado ahead. But the Canucks pulled even when Kassian poked in the puck from the doorstep with 1:22 remaining in the period after blue-liner Dan Hamhuis' shot from above the left circle hit his skate.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kassian scored for the second straight game and has collected six points in his last three contests. ... Landeskog has tallied four times in as many games. ... Avalanche C Ryan O'Reilly has yet to be whistled for a penalty in 71 contests this season.
