Captain Jamie Benn and Alex Chiasson also scored while Cole added an assist for the Stars, who earned a split of the four-game season series. Tim Thomas made his debut for Dallas and stopped all six shots he faced in relief of Kari Lehtonen, who made 26 saves before leaving early in the third with a concussion after being steamrolled into the crossbar by Minnesota's Erik Haula.

Haula, Charlie Coyle and Kyle Brodziak tallied for the Wild, who had their season-high five-game winning streak snapped. Darcy Kuemper turned aside 34 shots in his 15th consecutive start as Minnesota suffered its first regulation loss in seven contests (5-1-1).

Dallas grabbed an early lead as Benn beat Kuemper from the right faceoff circle 31 seconds into the contest. Minnesota pulled even with 3:28 remaining in the first period as Haula scored from the left faceoff dot while short-handed, but Chiasson tapped in a loose puck in the crease during a power play 1:55 into the second to put the Stars back in front.

Coyle scored during a man advantage at 11:15 to forge a tie and Brodziak beat Lehtonen from the inner edge of the left circle 1:23 into the third to give the Wild a 3-2 edge. Seguin buried his own rebound on the doorstep during a power play at 11:11 before Cole intercepted a cross-ice pass inside his own zone and raced down on a breakaway before beating Kuemper to the stick side with 4:49 to play.
