Stars 5, Oilers 2: Ryan Garbutt scored a goal and set up two others as host Dallas ended its six-game losing streak.

Captain Jamie Benn and defenseman Trevor Daley each recorded a tally and an assist while Cody Eakin and Erik Cole also scored for the Stars, who are 1-1-0 on their three-game homestand. Kari Lehtonen finished with 31 saves while Ray Whitney registered an assist in his 1,300th NHL game.

Defenseman Justin Schultz and Sam Gagner tallied for the Oilers, who fell to 0-2-0 on their four-game road trip. Taylor Hall notched a pair of assists and Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 25 shots as Edmonton dropped to 1-8-1 in its last 10 away from home.

Dallas needed just 14 seconds to jump in front as Cole received a pass from Daley and fired the puck into an open net from the right side of the crease. Schultz forged a tie 3 1/2 minutes later, but Garbutt put the Stars ahead for good at 8:35, when he knocked in a loose puck in the crease after Whitney's stuff attempt at the right post.

Benn converted a cross-slot slap pass by Tyler Seguin during a power play midway through the opening period and Eakin made it 4-1 just 1:10 into the second, tapping the puck past Bryzgalov from the doorstep after receiving a feed from below the right faceoff circle by Antoine Roussel. Gagner cashed in during a man advantage with 9 1/2 minutes remaining in the period, but Daley sealed the win in the final minute of the third with an empty-net goal.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Benn climbed within two goals of 100 for his career, while Gagner is now three away from the century mark. ... Seguin's assist on Benn's goal ended his five-game point drought. ... The Oilers have allowed at least three goals in each of their last nine contests.
