Blue Jackets 6, Flyers 3: Ryan Johansen and R.J. Umberger each scored a pair of goals and host Columbus avenged a stunning loss at Philadelphia two nights earlier in the back end of their home-and-home series.

Defenseman David Savard - who also had an assist - and Boone Jenner scored 2:03 apart in the third period before Johansen notched his sixth goal in 11 games to ice it for Columbus, which gave up five third-period goals in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Flyers. Curtis McElhinney made 33 saves while defenseman Nikita Nikitin and Corey Tropp each notched two assists for the Blue Jackets, who lost Marian Gaborik to a broken collarbone.

Wayne Simmonds scored a pair of goals and Sean Couturier also tallied for Philadelphia, which lost its fifth straight on the road (0-3-2). Ray Emery turned aside 23 shots in losing his fourth consecutive start.

Columbus was in control when Umberger deflected defenseman James Wisniewski's blast from the right point past Emery at 14:29 of the second period for a 2-0 lead. Brandon Dubinsky nearly made it 3-0 when he ripped a shot that hit the crossbar and left post with 2 1/2 minutes left in the session, but the Flyers quickly moved up ice and Simmonds scored through a screen 10 seconds later.

An official review determined Dubinsky's shot did not cross the line, allowing Philadelphia's goal to stand, and Couturier tied it 20 seconds later, corralling a crossing pass and shoveling it past McElhinney with exactly two minutes left in the period. The Blue Jackets quelled thoughts of another Flyers' comeback when Savard scored through a screen at 3:36 of the third and Jenner tipped in a shot by Nikitin to make it 4-2 at 5:39.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gaborik was hurt in the first period when he was sandwiched by Philadelphia C Zac Rinaldo and D Braydon Coburn only seconds before Johansen's first goal. Gaborik, who is out indefinitely, was back in the lineup for the first time after missing 17 games with a sprained knee. ... Flyers C Vincent Lecavalier, sidelined since suffering a non-displaced fracture in his back on Nov. 30, had an assist in his surprise return to the lineup, but the team announced that LW Steve Downie will miss 7-10 days with an upper-body injury. ... Referee Dan O'Rourke took a blow to the chest in the first period and did not return as he reportedly was coughing up blood in the locker room.
