Devils 2, Kings 1 (OT): Jaromir Jagr scored at 2:30 of overtime as visiting New Jersey snapped Los Angeles' four-game winning streak.

Jagr came out of the penalty box after the teams were playing 3-on-3 and slipped a puck past Ben Scrivens for his 690th career goal, tying Hall of Famer and former teammate Mario Lemieux for ninth place on the all-time list. Cory Schneider turned aside 34 shots and Ryan Carter also scored as the Devils improved to 5-1-0 in their last six with their second overtime victory in as many nights.

Justin Williams scored the lone goal and Scrivens made 13 saves for the Kings, who fell to 6-0-2 in their last eight despite outshooting New Jersey 35-15. Scrivens suffered his first loss in five starts since replacing the injured Jonathan Quick.

The Devils were overwhelmed in the opening two periods, getting outshot by a staggering 27-5 margin, but broke on top on their seventh shot of the game at 5:52 of the third. Carter carried the puck from behind the net and, with defenseman Alec Martinez shadowing him, beat Scrivens on a backhander from the left faceoff dot.

The lead lasted only 65 seconds as the Kings finally solved Schneider when Williams tapped in a rebound of Anze Kopitar's shot off a two-on-one break. It stayed that way until the 41-year-old Jagr settled it with his fourth tally in three games to tie the legendary Gordie Howe for the most game-winning goals (121) in league history.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Schneider ended a five-game winless drought with his first victory since Oct. 19. ... ... Kings F Jeff Carter (fractured foot), who has been sidelined since Oct. 30, skated Thursday - as did injured F Kyle Clifford, who has been out since Nov. 9. ... The contract of LW Rostislav Olesz was terminated by the Devils after he cleared unconditional waivers. Olesz, who inked a one-year deal with New Jersey in July, signed with SC Bern in Switzerland on Thursday.
