Coyotes 5, Red Wings 2: Mike Ribeiro tallied twice as host Phoenix scored five unanswered goals over the final 21 minutes to extend their point streak to six games.

Antoine Vermette and Martin Hanzal also scored while Mikkel Boedker notched two assists for the Coyotes, who have gone 4-0-2 during their streak and are 2-0-1 at home this season. Mike Smith turned aside 31 shots before completing the scoring with an empty-net goal, as his shot from his own crease sailed the length of the ice and crossed the goal line with one-tenth of a second remaining.

Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi tallied while Jimmy Howard returned from injury to make 28 saves for the Red Wings, who had their four-game winning streak snapped.

Lauri Korpikoski picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone after Detroit captain Henrik Zetterberg's dump-in attempt hit a linesman and made a lead pass to Hanzal, who beat Howard to the stick side on a breakaway at 7:08 of the third period to break a 2-2 tie. Ribeiro buried a loose puck from the left side of the crease with 6:46 remaining for his second goal of the game.

Datsyuk opened the scoring at 4:47 of the first period, beating Smith from alone in the right faceoff circle, and Bertuzzi converted after forcing a turnover on a fantastic individual effort less than 3 1/2 minutes later to give Detroit a 2-0 lead. Vermette began Phoenix's comeback by beating Howard high to the glove side with a minute left in the second, and Ribeiro buried a rebound in the slot 5:07 into the third to forge a tie.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Howard missed the Red Wings' previous three games with a bruised hand. ... Ribeiro's first goal extended his point streak to six games. ... Detroit has lost only twice in its last six games, both times to Phoenix.
