Ducks 6, Rangers 0: Jakob Silfverberg continued his scoring surge with a pair of goals and Jonas Hiller turned aside 34 shots for his 17th career shutout as Anaheim convincingly claimed its home opener.

Dustin Penner and Daniel Winnik collected a goal and an assist apiece as the Ducks won their third straight following a lopsided 6-1 season-opening loss to Colorado. Captain Ryan Getzlaf and Saku Koivu also tallied and veteran Teemu Selanne, Corey Perry and Mathieu Perreault each notched a pair of assists in the rout.

Henrik Lundqvist (31 saves) was battered in the second straight game for the Rangers, who were on the wrong end of a 9-2 decision at San Jose on Tuesday. The Swede made an early exit in that contest after yielding four goals.

After Getzlaf opened the scoring at 5:06 of the first period, Silfverberg doubled the advantage just over four minutes later by depositing a centering feed from Selanne between the pads of Lundqvist. Winnik capped the first-period uprising 2:19 later, when his shot from the right point sailed over the shoulder of the netminder.

Anaheim tacked on three more in the second - highlighted by Silfverberg netting his fourth goal in as many games as he buried a long rebound 1:27 into the period.

GAME NOTEBOOK: New York LW Rick Nash returned home prior to the contest, ensuring that he also will miss Saturday's contest in St. Louis as he deals with a head injury. Nash was on the receiving end of an illegal check from San Jose D Brad Stuart, who was suspended three games for the incident. ... All was not rosy for Anaheim, which saw Perreault exit with an upper-body injury and Penner with a lower-body ailment. ... Ducks RW Emerson Etem returned from a lower-body injury to make his season debut.
