Sharks 3, Stars 2: Joe Pavelski and Logan Couture scored 30 seconds apart late in the third period as San Jose rallied to clinch a postseason berth in its regular-season home finale.

Raffi Torres also tallied and Antti Niemi made 24 saves for the Sharks, who completed a 3-1-0 homestand and finished 17-2-5 at HP Pavilion this season. San Jose has qualified for the playoffs each of the last nine campaigns.

Pavelski knotted the contest with 5:37 remaining as he tipped defenseman Brad Stuart's blast from the right point past Kari Lehtonen. Moments later, Patrick Marleau grabbed a loose puck after blue-liner Justin Braun's shot failed to make it through traffic and dished it to Couture, who fired it into a vacant left side of the net from the faceoff circle to put the Sharks ahead.

Antoine Roussel and Loui Eriksson scored while Lehtonen turned aside 34 shots for the Stars, who remained three points behind eighth-place Columbus in the Western Conference with two games remaining.

San Jose struck first during a power play as Scott Gomez made a pass from the left circle to a streaking Torres, who redirected the puck past Lehtonen from the doorstep with 7:07 remaining in the first period. Roussel responded less than two minutes later, poking in a rebound in front after Niemi made the save on a shot from the top of the right circle by Cody Eakin.

The Stars cashed in on a two-man advantage just 17 seconds into the middle period to take the lead. Defenseman Alex Goligoski's one-timer from the top of the slot was stopped, but Eriksson knocked in the rebound from the doorstep for a 2-1 edge.
