Blues 2, Stars 1: Chris Stewart scored his first goal in eight games and Brian Elliott made 21 saves as host St. Louis won its season series against Dallas.

Ryan Reaves also scored for the sixth-place Blues, who moved within a point of Los Angeles and San Jose for fourth place in the Western Conference. Elliott stopped all 12 shots he faced over the first 40 minutes and nine of 10 in the third period to improve to 8-1-0 in April.

Antoine Roussel had the lone goal and Kari Lehtonen stopped 18 shots for the Stars, who lost two of three meetings with St. Louis and remained two points behind idle Columbus for the final playoff spot with one game in hand.

Stewart scored his team-leading 17th goal midway through the first period, firing home the rebound of a point shot by defenseman Alex Pietrangelo while Dallas' Eric Nystrom served a boarding penalty. Reaves made it 2-0 when he drove to the net and chipped a loose puck over Lehtonen at the edge of the crease 7:52 into the second.

Roussel tipped in defenseman Stephane Robidas’ point shot to spoil Elliott’s shutout bid at 4:37 of the third period. Dallas began its final road trip of the season with just its second loss in eight contests.
