Maple Leafs 5, Canadiens 1: Phil Kessel and Jay McClement each recorded a goal and an assist as host Toronto rolled past its Original Six rival.

Tyler Bozak, Leo Komarov and captain Dion Phaneuf also scored and James Reimer made 36 saves for the Maple Leafs, who climbed within five points of Boston for fourth place in the Eastern Conference and home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Defenseman Davis Drewiske tallied and Peter Budaj stopped 22 shots in relief of Carey Price for Montreal, which remained one point ahead of the Bruins for the top spot in the Northeast Division. Boston dropped a 4-2 decision to Carolina on Saturday.

Bozak opened the scoring 1:59 into the contest, beating Price during a power play on Toronto's first shot of the game. Komarov fired a shot from the bottom of the right faceoff circle between Price's pads at 8:08 and McClement scored on a backhander less than 2 1/2 minutes later to make it 3-0 and end the night for Price, who made just one save.

After Drewiske got Montreal on the board, Phaneuf greeted Budaj with a shot from high along the left-wing boards that sneaked past the goaltender with 2:54 remaining. Kessel converted a cross-slot pass from James van Riemsdyk at 4:42 of the second to complete the scoring.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Canadiens rookie C Alex Galchenyuk had his five-game point streak snapped. ... The Maple Leafs have earned points in 13 of their last 14 games (8-1-4). ... Three of Montreal's 10 regulation losses this season have been to Toronto.
