Stars 3, Ducks 1: Kari Lehtonen made 27 saves and rookie Lane MacDermid scored his second goal in as many games as visiting Dallas salvaged the finale of a rare three-game series with Pacific Division-leading Anaheim.

Rookie Alex Chiasson and Eric Nystrom also tallied for the Stars, who were outshot 10-3 in the third period but snapped a three-game slide that included back-to-back losses to the Ducks. Vernon Fiddler notched two assists as Dallas climbed within five points of eighth-place St. Louis in the Western Conference with 11 games remaining.

Andrew Cogliano scored for Anaheim, which saw its four-game point streak come to an end after outscoring the Stars 9-2 in the first two contests of the three-game set. Viktor Fasth stopped 22 shots in his third straight start as Anaheim remained three points behind first-place Chicago in the West.

MacDermid, who was acquired from Boston as part of the package received for Jaromir Jagr, put a backhand shot past Fasth 9:03 into the contest. Cogliano forged a tie 18 seconds later as he scored from the doorstep, but Nystrom restored Dallas' lead while short-handed with 6:06 left in the first as he grabbed a loose puck and caught Fasth out of position.

Chiasson extended the lead with 48 seconds left in the period, netting his first goal in his second NHL game by redirecting Fiddler's centering attempt past Fasth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Anaheim RW Teemu Selanne thought he scored after he put the puck between Lehtonen’s legs during a rush midway through the third period. But the puck glanced off the inside of Lehtonen’s pad and hit the post. ... Stars LW Jamie Benn appeared to score with 6:36 remaining in the third, when his dump-in caromed off a stanchion and fooled Fasth. But officials waved off the goal, ruling Dallas was offside on the play. ... Chiasson was strong on faceoffs, winning five of the six draws he took.
