Red Wings 2, Ducks 1:
Jimmy Howard made 33 saves as Detroit completed a two-game road sweep of Anaheim.

Daniel Cleary and Drew Miller scored in the first period for the Red Wings, who snapped the Ducks' franchise-record 13-game home winning streak with a 5-1 victory on Friday. Detroit has won four of its last five games.

Captain Ryan Getzlaf tallied and Jonas Hiller made 19 saves as Anaheim suffered back-to-back home losses for the first time this season. The Ducks had lost just once in 14 games at the Honda Center before welcoming Detroit to town for a rare two-game set.

Cleary got things started for the Red Wings on a power play at 4:14 in the first period, stationing himself in front of Hiller and redirecting defenseman Jakub Kindl’s blast from the right faceoff circle. Miller won a battle for a loose puck in the crease and shoved it between Hiller’s pads to make it a two-goal advantage 4 1/2 minutes later.

Anaheim got on the board during a power play with 46 seconds left in the second period. Getzlaf skated through the slot to the right circle and pulled the puck back before snapping it off one leg past a screened Howard.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cleary’s tally extended Detroit’s streak of games with at least one power-play goal to seven straight. … Howard made a glove save on Anaheim D Sheldon Souray’s hard wrist shot through traffic to help kill off a penalty late in the third period. … The frustration started to boil over late for the Ducks, when Getzlaf was called for tripping with 33.5 seconds remaining. Getzlaf and RWs Teemu Selanne and Corey Perry argued the call and received a combined total of 44 minutes in penalties, including a 10-minute misconduct for each and a game misconduct for Selanne.
