Red Wings 8, Canucks 3: Rookie Damien Brunner collected two goals and two assists and Detroit recorded three power-play tallies in the second period to breeze past visiting Vancouver.

Captain Henrik Zetterberg and defenseman Niklas Kronwall had a goal and two assists apiece while rookie Joakim Andersson scored twice in the third period to put the game away. Kronwall, who has six points in his last two games, leads the league in scoring by a defenseman with 16 points.

Daniel Cleary and Jordin Tootoo also scored for the Red Wings, who trailed 3-2 after the first period but capitalized on three of four man-advantage opportunities in the second to take a 5-3 lead. Jimmy Howard made 18 saves in Detroit’s second straight victory following a five-game winless streak.

Vancouver’s Daniel Sedin scored twice on feeds from his brother Henrik. Chris Higgins added a wraparound goal for the Canucks, who ended their four-game road trip with a loss. Roberto Luongo stopped 20 shots, but allowed all eight goals in suffering his first regulation setback of the season.

The Red Wings had two goals overturned in the second period. Patrick Eaves put home a rebound on a delayed penalty but the play was blown dead before the puck went in, and Pavel Datsyuk scored a goal that was waved off after it was determined his stick made contact with the puck above the crossbar.
