BRUINS 4, CAPITALS 3 (OT): Tyler Seguin scored the game-winning goal at 3:17 in overtime as visiting Boston evened its Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with Washington at three games apiece.

After Nicklas Backstrom turned the puck over in the neutral zone, Seguin accepted a feed from Milan Lucic and outwaited Braden Holtby before wristing the puck into the net to force Game 7 in Boston on Wednesday. The marker was Seguin’s first goal of the series.

Washington captain Alex Ovechkin knotted the contest at 3-3 with 4:52 left in the third period after wristing the puck between the pads of Tim Thomas. Thomas made 36 saves for his 29th career playoff victory.

Defenseman Andrew Ference pinched in from the blue line and buried a rebound at 11:57 of the third period to give the Bruins the 3-2 advantage.

Rich Peverley and David Krejci added a goal and an assist apiece for Boston.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bruins defenseman Joe Corvo (leg) didn’t play. ... Boston goaltender Tuukka Rask (groin) served as backup to Thomas. ... Every game in the series has been decided by one goal.
