PENGUINS 4, FLYERS 2
: Captain Sidney Crosby scored to snap a tie late in the second period and Evgeni Malkin added his 50th goal moments later as host Pittsburgh secured a bit of momentum heading into its Eastern Conference quarterfinal series with Philadelphia.

Pascal Dupuis celebrated his 33rd birthday by scoring to extend his points streak to 17 games. Chris Kunitz joined Crosby and Malkin with a goal and an assist as the Penguins defeated the Flyers for the first time in six tries at the Consol Energy Center.

Former Penguin Jaromir Jagr netted a power-play tally to end a 15-game goalless drought and rookie Brayden Schenn also scored for the Flyers, who suffered just their second loss this season to their Keystone State rivals.

With Jagr serving a hooking penalty late in the second period, Crosby collected a loose puck on the doorstep and backhanded it past Sergei Bobrovsky. The tally was Crosby's eighth goal in 22 games.

Malkin netted his milestone goal with 12 seconds remaining in the middle session after wristing a shot from slot past Bobrovsky. After the tally, Malkin flashed a wide smile and pumped his fist as the Consol Energy Center erupted.

With Pittsburgh enjoying a two-goal lead, Malkin and Crosby spent the majority of the third period on the bench as coach Dan Byslma elected to be cautious with his stars.
