OILERS 3, BLUE JACKETS 0: Devan Dubnyk made 22 saves and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins collected a goal and an assist as host Edmonton won a contest pitting the two teams with the fewest points in the NHL.

Taylor Hall scored for the fourth consecutive game and Linus Omark added an empty-net goal for the Oilers, who showed some fire after coach Tom Renney publicly blasting them following a 3-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Monday.

After outshooting Columbus by a 12-3 margin in a scoreless first period, Edmonton finally broke through at the 7:40 mark in the second. Nugent-Hopkins wristed a shot from the slot past Curtis Sanford for his 16th goal - and first since Feb. 29.

Hall doubled the advantage with five seconds left in the session. Nugent-Hopkins' shot was tipped by Shawn Horcoff and Hall alertly batted in the rebound for his 27th goal.

Dubnyk preserved his second shutout of the season and fourth career by stopping all nine shots in the third period.

Sanford, who finished with 24 saves, suffered his fifth straight loss since coming off injured reserve (back).
