Scott Hartnell scored two power-play goals and Wayne Simmonds had a goal and two assists as the Philadelphia Flyers skated to a 4-1 win over the host New Jersey Devils on Saturday.

Hartnell’s second goal – and 22nd of the season – came on the power play at 8:07 of the final frame when he one-timed a pass from Claude Giroux past goalie Martin Brodeur. Giroux collected two assists in the game.

Simmonds added his 13th goal of the season into an empty net. Ilya Bryzgalov made 30 saves to improve to 18-10-3.

After a quiet first period, the Flyers opened a 2-1 lead in the middle frame.

Matt Read scored his rookie leading 15th goal of the season at 9:30 after Simmonds caused a turnover behind the net and found Read in front.

Hartnell notched his 21st of the season on the power play by deflecting a Kimmo Timonen point shot past Brodeur at 13:04.

New Jersey responded 28 seconds later when newly acquired Alexei Ponikarovsky deflected a point shot past Bryzgalov. It was Ponikarovsky’s eighth goal of the season and first as a Devil, having been acquired less than 24 hours earlier in a trade with Carolina.
