Daniel Briere collected a power-play goal and an assist and Brian Boucher turned aside 26 shots as the Philadelphia Flyers advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals with a 5-2 home victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday in Game 7 of their quarterfinal series.

Defenseman Braydon Coburn, James van Riemsdyk, Ville Leino and Dan Carcillo also scored and All-Star Claude Giroux notched a pair of assists for the Atlantic Division champions, who will wait for the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens to settle their quarterfinal series to determine their next opponent.

Should the sixth-seeded Canadiens win Wednesday's Game 7, the second-seeded Flyers would face the winner of the Pittsburgh Penguins-Tampa Bay Lightning series. Should the third-seeded Bruins emerge victorious at home on Wednesday, Philadelphia will face Boston for the second consecutive year in the playoffs. In 2010, the Flyers rallied from a 3-0 deficit to win four straight en route to skating to a berth in the Stanley Cup Finals.

With Philadelphia thoroughly dominating the first period and outshooting Buffalo by a 16-2 margin, the Flyers finally broke through in the waning moments of the session.

Briere cleanly won a faceoff in the offensive end and sent the puck back to Coburn, who wristed a shot which Buffalo's Mike Grier failed to cleanly knock down. The puck's path was altered by the attempt and eventually found its way past reigning Vezina Trophy winner Ryan Miller with 19 seconds left in the period.

Briere doubled the advantage 4:45 into the second period after tapping in captain Mike Richards' point shot for his sixth tally of the series. Giroux extended the lead just 5 1/2 minutes later and Leino added insurance with his second goal in as many games 1:59 into the third.

Defenseman Tyler Myers and Brad Boyes scored and Miller turned aside 24 shots before being pulled early in the third period for seventh-seeded Buffalo, which saw its Game 7 record fall to 1-6 while losing all five attempts on the road.
