Texans 23, Bills 17: J.J. Watt raced 80 yards with an interception for the go-ahead touchdown as host Houston defeated Buffalo.

Ryan Fitzpatrick passed for 268 yards and one touchdown and overcame two interceptions to defeat his former team. Randy Bullock kicked three field goals and DeAndre Hopkins caught a touchdown pass for the Texans (3-1).

EJ Manuel passed for 225 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Bills (2-2). Sammy Watkins and Mike Williams caught scoring passes and Buffalo had a chance to take the lead, but Manuel was intercepted by Houston’s Darryl Morris at the 15-yard line with 1:07 remaining.

With his team leading 10-7, Manuel tried to throw the ball in the right flat early in the third quarter but Watt was there for his first career interception and raced downfield to give Houston the lead. Field goals of 41 and 55 yards by Bullock pushed Houston’s lead to 20-10 before the Bills got back in the game when Manuel threw an 80-yard scoring pass to Williams with 9:08 remaining and Bullock answered with a 50-yard field goal to make it a six-point margin with 4:49 left.

Buffalo got on the board on Dan Carpenter’s 31-yard field goal early in the second quarter and had its first touchdown set up when Houston receiver Andre Johnson lost a fumble for the first time since 2008. Manuel hit Watkins on a 5-yard scoring pass to make it 10-0 with 5:54 to go before Fitzpatrick got the Texans on the board with a 35-yard touchdown pass to Hopkins 57 seconds before halftime.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Johnson caught six passes for 71 yards before departing with an ankle injury, leaving him with 949 receptions and meaning he failed to join Marvin Harrison (158 games) as the fastest player to reach 950 career catches. … Bills LB Nigel Bradham recorded his first career interception in the third quarter and departed later in the stanza with a knee injury; DT Kyle Williams also left with a knee injury. … Houston RB Arian Foster (hamstring) had just six yards on eight rushes but caught seven passes for 55 yards.
