Mark Sanchez threw three touchdown passes for the second straight week, leading the visiting New York Jets to a 31-23 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday night.

Sanchez finished 15 of 28 for 256 yards, connecting with tight end Dustin Keller for a pair of touchdowns and wide receiver Braylon Edwards for another as the Jets (2-1) avenged a pair of losses to Miami (2-1) last season.

LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 70 yards on 15 carries, including a 1-yard plunge with 1:55 to play that gave the Jets the 31-23 lead.

Miami drove to the Jets 6-yard line on its final possession before Drew Coleman intercepted Chad Henne's fourth-down pass in the end zone.

Henne threw for 363 yards with two touchdowns and the pick and Brandon Marshall had 10 receptions for 166 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' home opener.

The Jets jumped out to a 14-0 lead less than 90 seconds into the second quarter as Sanchez connected on scoring passes of 24 and 12 yards to Keller.

Miami took the second-half kickoff and went 73 yards in 12 plays before Henne fired an 11-yard scoring strike to Marshall to go ahead 17-14.

The Jets needed just 18 seconds to move back in front to stay. Sanchez tossed a short pass in the left flat to Edwards, who spun away from a defender and raced down the sideline for a 67-yard TD and a 21-17 lead.

Edwards had been benched for the first quarter as punishment for his arrest on drunken-driving charges earlier in the week.

Dan Carpenter kicked three field goals for the Dolphins, including a 50-yarder that cut the lead to 24-23 with just over 6 1/2 minutes to play.

Keller had six receptions and 98 yards - all in the first half - just one week after hauling in seven receptions for 115 yards and a TD in a win over the New England Patriots.
