Chiefs 31, Giants 7: Alex Smith tossed three touchdown passes and Dexter McCluster returned a punt 89 yards for a score late in the third quarter as host Kansas City improved to 4-0 for the first time since 2003.

Smith (24-for-41, 288 yards) overcame his first two interceptions of the season by finding Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe for fourth-quarter touchdowns. Third-string tight end Sean McGrath also had a 5-yard touchdown reception to highlight his five-catch, 64-yard performance as the Chiefs became the second team in NFL history to win its first four games following a two-win season.

Victor Cruz continues to be Eli Manning's most trusted target - with his 69-yard touchdown reception emphasizing his 10-catch, 164-yard effort. Four turnovers proved to be the undoing for the Giants (0-4), who last lost their first four games during an 0-5 start to the strike-shortened 1987 campaign.

The Chiefs opened the scoring early in the second quarter after Smith capped an 11-play, 98-yard drive by finding McGrath for his first career touchdown. New York answered in short order as Cruz took advantage of the absence of Chiefs top CB Brandon Flowers (knee) by beating CB Dunta Robinson on single coverage for his fourth touchdown of the season and 23rd of his career.

With Kansas City nursing a 10-7 lead, McCluster settled under a punt before making a quick spin move, shifting toward the middle of the field and turning on the jets for his second career punt return for a touchdown. Smith capped a 14-play, 80-yard drive by finding Charles for a 2-yard score before connecting with Bowe on a 34-yard scoring strike just 2:37 later to seal the win.
