Ryan Succop kicked a career-high five field goals as the host Kansas City Chiefs won their first game of the season, 22-17 over the winless Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Matt Cassel threw for a season-high 260 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown pass to Dwayne Bowe early in the fourth quarter to give Kansas City a 22-10 lead.

Kansas City (1-3), which scored 27 points in its first three games, took the lead for good 12-10 on Succop’s career-long 54-yarder in the third quarter.

Donovan McNabb passed for 202 yards and two touchdowns for the Vikings (0-4), who have been outscored 80-16 in the second half this season.

Minnesota drove to the Chiefs’ 41 with 2 minutes remaining before McNabb threw four straight incomplete passes.

The Vikings' Adrian Peterson ran 23 times for 80 yards, including 11 for 36 in the second half. Peterson has 102 yards on 33 carries after halftime this season.

Minnesota trailed entering the second half for the first time in 2011 before moving ahead 10-9 on Ryan Longwell’s 33-yard field goal, the Vikings' first points in the third quarter this season.

The Chiefs, who snapped a five-game losing streak, took their first lead of the season on Succop’s 40-yard field goal in the first quarter.

Succop made 2-of-5 field goals in his first three games.

McNabb’s 34-yard touchdown pass to Devin Aromashodu in the first quarter gave Minnesota a 7-3 lead.

Bowe had five catches for 107 yards.
