Pittsburgh got back to “Steelers football” by rushing for 124 yards and shutting out the visiting Seattle Seahawks 24-0 at Heinz Field on Sunday, a week after suffering an embarrassing loss to Baltimore in the season opener.

Steelers running backs Rashard Mendenhall and Isaac Redman carried the ball a combined 30 times, with each rushing for a touchdown.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who was sacked four times and threw three interceptions in the 35-7 loss to Baltimore, was 22 for 30 for 298 yards and a touchdown. He was sacked twice.

The Steelers (1-1) held the Seahawks (0-2) to eight first downs and 164 yards of total offense. They also sacked Tarvaris Jackson five times.

Pittsburgh won its ninth straight home opener and scored its seventh straight victory at home over an NFC opponent. Seattle fell to an AFC foe for the ninth straight time and is now 0-9 in their last nine games in the Eastern Time zone.

The Steelers easily moved the ball on its first possession, but were forced into a fourth-and-goal situation. Mendenhall was stuffed at the 1-yard line, turning the ball over on downs. He would make up for that with a 4-yard touchdown run on the following possession.

Seattle was limited to just 71 yards of total offense at halftime and had possession for just 9:52 through the first two quarters. Jackson passed for only 159 yards in the game.

Pittsburgh got a scare late in the second quarter when Roethlisberger was undercut by Seattle cornerback Marcus Trufant and left with a right knee injury. He did return in the second half.
