Marcel Reece caught a 73-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter as the host Oakland Raiders kept their playoff hopes alive – and spoiled rookie Tim Tebow’s first NFL start – with a 39-23 victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
The Raiders (7-7, 5-0 AFC West) can win the division with victories in their final two games against Indianapolis and at Kansas City, one loss by the Chargers and a Chiefs loss next week to the Titans.
Tebow had a 40-yard touchdown – Denver’s longest run from scrimmage this the season – and a 33-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Lloyd. He finished with a team-high 78 yards on eight carries and was 8 of 16 passing for 138 yards.
Michael Bush had a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs and Sebastian Janikowski kicked three field goals for the Raiders, including a 47-yarder in the third quarter to give the Raiders a 23-20 lead.
The Raiders rushed for 201 yards in the first half, the most in the NFL this season, including a 71-yard touchdown by wide receiver Jacoby Ford. Darren McFadden finished with a team-high 119 yards to give him 1,112 this season.
Jason Campbell was 15 of 26 for 238 yards and two interceptions as the Raiders survived three turnovers in the first half.
The Broncos (3-11) have lost five straight and 19 of their last 24. They lost to the Raiders 59-14 in Week 7.
