Stephen Gostkowski kicked a 35-yard field goal in overtime to give the New England Patriots a 23-20 victory over the visiting Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.
New acquisition Deion Branch caught nine passes for 98 yards and a touchdown in his return for the Patriots (4-1) and Tom Brady improved his regular-season home winning streak to 23 games.
New England grabbed the lead briefly at the end of the first quarter when BenJarvus Green-Ellis capped a six-play drive with a 2-yard touchdown run.
But Joe Flacco and the Ravens responded right away, marching 73 yards down the field and hitting Todd Heap with a 16-yard pass to take a 10-7 lead.
Baltimore (4-2) took advantage of a Patriots turnover early in the third. After Chris Carr picked off Brady in New England territory, Flacco needed only three plays to find Anquan Boldin with a 25-yard touchdown pass, making it 17-7.
It was 20-10 before Brady found a groove, leading an eight-play drive capped by a 5-yard touchdown pass to Branch to pull within 20-17 with 11:02 left.
The Patriots forced a punt and got the ball back on their own 14 before embarking on another drive that ended in a 24-yard field goal by Gostkowski to tie it with 1:51 left in regulation.
