Mills recorded 237 yards from scrimmage while Wan'Dale Robinson scored twice for the Cornhuskers (3-5, 3-5 Big Ten), who rushed for 365 and totaled a season-best 620 for the game. Martinez, who threw for 255 yards while being picked off twice and fumbling another two, scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 1-yard dive with 9:55 left in the game.

Martinez also picked up 11 yards on a fourth-and-2 with just over 2 minutes to play to ice the game for Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers held Rutgers (3-6, 3-6) to 252 total yards while extending its opponent's league home losing streak to 15 games.

Aron Cruickshank's 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter and two interceptions and two fumble recoveries from Christian Izien highlighted the evening for the Scarlet Knights, who tried to win four Big Ten games for the first time.

Trailing 14-7 at halftime, Martinez darted 41 yards for a touchdown on a keeper to tie the game with 9:06 left in the third quarter. Rutgers, then, took the lead right back when Cruickshank returned the ensuing kickoff for a 21-14 edge. Martinez, though, hooked up with Robinson for a 14-yard touchdown pass play over the middle on third-and-12 to tie the game at 21-21.

Rutgers went up 3-0 via Valentino Ambrosio's 36-yard field goal with 8:55 left in the first quarter. Ambrosio pushed Rutgers' lead to 6-0 when he converted from 42 yards out with 13:20 left in the first half.

The Cornhuskers, though, went ahead on their next possession. Following Mills' 43-yard run down to Rutgers' 2, Robinson scored from 1-yard out on fourth down, making it a 7-6 advantage for the visitors with 10:07 to play in the second quarter.

Isaih Pacheco rushed for a 33-yard touchdown and Art Sitkowski (10-of-20, 122 yards) hit Bo Melton for the 2-point conversion to give the hosts a 14-7 with just over 3 minutes to play in the first half.
