Dorian Thompson-Robinson passed for 226 yards and two touchdowns and Joshua Kelley rushed for two more scores as UCLA raced out to a fast start and then held on to earn a 31-14 victory over visiting Colorado on Saturday night.

The Bruins (4-5, 4-2 in Pac-12) scored on their first three possessions in the opening quarter with Thompson-Robinson hitting tight end Devin Asiasi on a 16-yard touchdown pass and wide receiver Ethan Fernea on a 45-yard scoring strike for an early 17-0 lead.

UCLA had 201 yards of total offense in the first quarter, while holding the Buffaloes (3-6, 1-5) to just 20 yards in the opening quarter.

Steven Montez threw for one TD and rushed for another for Colorado, while Jaren Mangham had 77 rushing yards as the Buffaloes lost their fifth consecutive game after opening the season 3-1 and starting their Pac-12 schedule with a victory over Arizona State.

UCLA won its third consecutive game and moved into a second-place tie in the Pac-12 South Division. After an off week, the Bruins will travel to No. 9 Utah on Nov. 16 for a matchup with the first-place Utes.

The Bruins went on a six-play, 57-yard drive on their opening possession to take 7-0 lead after Asiasi's TD catch, then went on a 12-play, 74-yard drive that ended with a 28-yard field goal from J.J. Molson. That was followed by a 1-play drive that ended with Fernea's first TD catch of the season.

Montez gave Colorado its first score with a 2-yard touchdown run in the second quarter as UCLA took a 17-7 lead into halftime. Montez also threw a 27-yard scoring pass to Tony Brown in the fourth quarter.

Kelley rushed for 126 yards, scoring on a 5-yard run in the third quarter and a 35-yard scamper to put the game away with 4:14 remaining.

Going back to last season, it was the 14th consecutive game the Colorado defense gave up at least 30 points.
