Joe Burrow threw three touchdown passes and Clyde Edwards-Helaire ran for two scores as No. 5 LSU held off No. 7 Florida, 42-28, in an SEC showdown Saturday night in Baton Rouge, La.

Burrow completed 21 of 24 passes for 293 yards as the top-rated passing game in the SEC kept rolling against the highest-rated defense it has faced this season.

Ja'Marr Chase caught seven passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns and Justin Jefferson caught 10 for 123 yards and one touchdown for the Tigers (6-0, 2-0).

Burrow prevailed in a shootout against Kyle Trask, a redshirt junior making his first career start in place of Feleipe Franks, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury against Kentucky last month.

Trask completed 23 of 39 passes for 310 yards and three touchdowns, but threw a crucial interception to freshman Derek Stingley Jr. in the Tigers end zone with LSU leading by a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter.

Edwards-Helaire finished with 134 rushing yards (on 13 carries), nine more than then-No. 7 Auburn had against Florida (6-1, 3-1) a week earlier.

The Gators broke a 21-all tie and took their first lead of the game when Trask threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Van Jefferson on the first possession of the third quarter.

The Tigers tied the score on the ensuing possession when Edwards-Helaire ran 5 yards for a touchdown.

They regained the lead when Tyrion Davis-Price ran 33 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter.

Burrow threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to Chase with 5:43 left in the game.

LSU took a 7-0 lead on Burrow's 9-yard pass to Chase midway through the first quarter.

Trask threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Trevon Grimes to tie the score at the end of the first quarter.

Burrow's 7-yard touchdown pass to Justin Jefferson gave the Tigers a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter, but the Gators answered with a 1-yard touchdown pass from Emory Jones to Lamical Perine on fourth down.

LSU regained the lead on a 39-yard touchdown run by Edwards-Helaire, but Trask answered with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Van Jefferson to tie the score at 21 at halftime.
