No. 25 Kansas State 58, Texas-El Paso 28: Charles Jones racked up three of the Wildcats' six rushing touchdowns and the Kansas State defense stifled one of the nation's top run attacks in a one-sided win over the visiting Miners.

Jones had a pair of touchdown runs in a dominant first half and added another on the first drive of the third quarter to pace the Wildcats (3-1), finishing with a game-high 76 rushing yards on just 12 carries. Jake Waters went 10-of-15 for 209 yards with a touchdown pass and a scoring run while DeMarcus Robinson and Joe Hubener also rushed for touchdowns.

Jameill Showers finished 18-of-28 for 201 yards and four TDs for Texas-El Paso (2-2), which came into the game ranked ninth in rushing yards per game (314) but managed just 59 yards against an impressive Kansas State defensive front. Aaron Jones, who entered Saturday fourth in the country with 549 rushing yards, was held to 47 on 19 carries while Ian Hamilton led the aerial attack with five catches for 112 yards and a score.

Waters' 1-yard plunge with 2:01 remaining in the opening quarter expanded the Kansas State lead to 10-0, and kick started a dominant opening half. Jones bookended Tyler Lockett's 58-yard punt-return touchdown with touchdown runs of 3 and 9 yards as the Wildcats went into the break with a 31-0 advantage.

Waters executed a perfect play-action pass to Zach Trujillo for a 44-yard TD strike to make it a 45-0 game before UTEP finally hit the scoreboard on Showers' 4-yard pass to Hamilton just over 9 1/2 minutes into the third quarter. Jones added a 3-yard TD reception early in the final period - his eighth score of the season - while Showers and Hamilton combined on a 69-yard touchdown pass and Eric Tomlinson added a 2-yard scoring catch in the final minute for UTEP.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kansas State blocked a pair of punts in the first quarter, but the second one was negated following an inadvertent whistle; it took officials more than 10 minutes to sort out the play, which resulted in a replay of the down. ... The Wildcats outgained the Miners 451-260. ... UTEP is 1-32 all-time on the road versus ranked opponents, with its only win coming at No. 14 Arizona State 40 years ago.
