No. 17 Wisconsin 68, Bowling Green 17: Melvin Gordon set career-highs with 253 rushing yards and five touchdowns as the host Badgers routed the Falcons.

Tanner McEvoy rushed for 158 yards and one touchdown and also passed for a score as Wisconsin (2-1) won its 31st consecutive nonconference game. Corey Clement added 111 rushing yards and two touchdowns as the Badgers set school and Big Ten records with 644 rushing yards and also set a school mark with 756 yards of total offense.

James Knapke passed for 163 yards and was intercepted once for Bowling Green (2-2). The Falcons trailed 14-10 after the first quarter before the Badgers scored the next 51 points.

Gordon’s 2-yard run in the first quarter gave Wisconsin a 14-7 lead and he turned it up a notch with three second-quarter touchdowns. Gordon, who averaged 19.5 yards per carry, scored on rushes of 50, 3 and 21 yards as the Badgers took a 41-10 halftime lead.

Gordon scored on a 69-yard scamper just 46 seconds into the second half to tie the school record for rushing scores in a game. Clement added scoring runs of 13 and 1 yards to boost the lead to 62-10 later in the third.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wisconsin tied the school mark of eight rushing touchdowns, set against Nebraska in 2012. … Bowling Green was just 2-for-15 on third-down conversions. … WR Sam Arneson caught a 34-yard scoring in the second quarter for the Badgers’ lone passing score.
