No. 5 Auburn 20, No. 20 Kansas State 14: Nick Marshall threw two touchdown passes as the Tigers posted a road victory over the sloppy Wildcats.

Marshall was 17-of-31 for 231 yards and added 46 yards on the ground for Auburn (3-0), which gave up a short TD run to Charles Jones with 3:49 left before running out the clock with the help of a clutch 39-yard completion from Marshall to D'haquille Williams on third-and-9 with less than two minutes to play. Williams finished with eight catches for 110 yards and a touchdown as the Tigers played their first non-conference road game against a ranked team since 2002.

Jake Waters was 24-of-40 for 245 yards and Curry Sexton racked up 121 yards on 11 receptions for Kansas State (2-1), which was hurt by a litany of mistakes. Waters lost a fumble and threw two interceptions - including one in the end zone, while Jack Cantele missed all three of his field-goal attempts.

Waters' early fumble led to a field goal by Auburn and on Kansas State's next drive, the Wildcats drove to the 1-yard line before Waters' pass went off the hands of Tyler Lockett and was intercepted by Jonathan Jones. Kansas State took its only lead 7-3 when Lockett's 26-yard punt return gave the hosts a short field, leading to DeMarcus Robinson's 3-yard TD run with 4:56 to play in the half.

The Tigers answered with a 75-yard drive capped by Marshall's 40-yard TD pass to Ricardo Louis, who made several Wildcats defenders miss on the play en route to the end zone. Auburn created separation with two fourth-quarter scores - a 9-yard scoring strike from Marshall to Williams with 14:10 left and after a Waters interception, a 25-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson with 6:28 to play before Kansas State made things interesting late.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Waters took a 12-yard sack on the Wildcats' final offensive play of the first half, and it proved costly as Cantele missed a 42-yard field goal right before intermission. ... Cantele also missed a 22-yard field goal in the third quarter that would have tied the game at 10, and missed as many kicks in Thursday's contest as he had in his career entering the game (15-of-18). ... Kansas State did not commit a penalty.
