Alex Fontenot ran for 105 yards and a score and Laviska Shenault Jr. finished with seven catches for 100 yards and a touchdown for Colorado. The Buffaloes snapped a nine-game losing streak to Washington and beat the Huskies for the first time in eight tries since joining the Pac-12.
Jacob Eason was 21-for-34 passing for 206 yards with a touchdown and an interception, Hunter Bryant had five catches for 82 yards, and Richard Newton ran for 32 yards and a touchdown for the Huskies (6-5, 3-5).
Cade Otton added three receptions for 25 yards and a score for Washington.
The Buffaloes (5-6, 3-5) took a 6-0 lead on a pair of field goals from Evan Price and then opened up a 13-0 lead when Montez connected with Shenault on a 39-yard touchdown pass with 1:37 left in the first half.
The scoring strike was the 61st in Montez's career with Colorado, tops among quarterbacks in school history.
The Huskies finally got on the board in the second half, taking the opening kickoff of the half and driving 75 yards on 15 plays, the final being Newton's 1-yard touchdown run. The Huskies used nearly seven minutes on the drive.
The Buffaloes responded on their next possession with a strong rushing game. Fontenot ran the ball eight times and finished the 11-play, 82-yard drive with a 2-yard scoring run to make it 20-7.
The Huskies came right back, converting two fourth-down plays and scoring on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Eason to Cotton with 12:35 left.
The teams traded four punts after that and the Huskies pinned Colorado at its own 1-yard like with 5:09 left. An offside penalty gave the Buffaloes some room to work and then they were able to keep the ball the rest of the game.
