Senior Jacob Godek kicked a 37-yard field goal in overtime to give The Citadel a 27-24 upset win over Georgia Tech on Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta.

Georgia Tech had the ball first in overtime and had to settle for a 46-yard field goal attempt from Brenton King, who was wide left.

The Citadel (1-2) won the game by dominating the time of possession, holding the ball for 41:50, compared to 18:10 for Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs rushed for 320 yards -- 93 from Clay Harris and 70 from quarterback Brandon Rainey.

It was The Citadel's first victory over Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets had won the previous 10 meetings. The Bulldogs had been 0-22 vs. ACC teams.

Georgia Tech (1-2) struggled to move the ball and had 301 total yards against its FCS opponent. Quarterback Tobias Oliver rushed for 92 yards and threw for 27. Jordan Mason rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns.

Godek kicked a 47-yard field goal with 1:51 remaining to put The Citadel ahead 24-21, but Georgia Tech tied the game on King's 34-yard field goal as time expired. Georgia Tech appeared to have scored the winning touchdown when Oliver ran untouched for a 17-yard touchdown, but the Yellow Jackets called timeout before the snap, negating the touchdown.

Georgia Tech tied the game at 14 on its second possession of the second half. One play after a poor punt gave the Yellow Jackets the ball at the Bulldogs 33, quarterback Lucas Johnson found Jalen Camp for a touchdown pass. The duo hooked up again for the two-point conversion to tie the game at the 10:50 mark.

The Citadel answered with a touchdown to take a 21-14 lead with 6:05 left in the third quarter. Rainey completed the drive with a 22-yard keeper up the middle.

Godek missed a 50-yard field goal with 8:46 remaining. Georgia Tech took advantage by scoring in four plays, one of them a 29-yard pass to Camp, and completed the drive on Mason's 25-yard run.
