Quarterback Darell Garretson ran 16 yards for a touchdown in overtime to give Oregon State a 47-44 victory over California on Saturday night before 34,066 at Reser Stadium in Corvallis, Ore.
Cal had the ball first in overtime and Matt Anderson kicked a 39-yard field to give the Golden Bears their first lead.
Sophomore running back Ryan Nall, who rushed for 221 yards and three touchdowns, was not available in overtime after leaving with an undisclosed injury.
The win broke a 12-game losing streak in Pac-12 games for the Beavers (2-3, 1-1). They last beat a conference opponent Nov. 15, 2014 -- a 35-27 verdict over Arizona State.
Oregon State finished with 474 rushing yards, the most in a conference game for the Beavers. Nall's total was 10th-most in school history.
Oregon State led by as many as 17 points in the fourth quarter before Cal pulled within three points with 2:41 left on running back Khalfani Muhammad's 50-yard touchdown run on a fourth-down play.
The Bears (3-3, 1-2) got the ball back with 1:49 left and drove to a 29-yard field goal by Anderson with five seconds left to force overtime.
Oregon State had a 17-3 lead in the second quarter on touchdown runs by Nall and Garretson only to see it reduced to 17-10 when Cal linebacker Raymond Davison intercepted a deflected Garretson pass and returned it 39 yards for a touchdown with 56 seconds left until halftime.
Until then, the Beavers had control of the game, piling up 233 yards of offense -- 175 rushing -- while holding the Bears to 103 yards.
Nall added two touchdowns in the third quarter, an 80-yard rumble through the Cal defense on the first offensive play after halftime and a 5-yard score that was set up by his 62-yarder.
The second score made it 34-17 after quarterback Davis Webb (23 for 44, 113 yards, one interception) ran 1 yard for Cal's first offensive touchdown.
Davis tossed 22 touchdown passes in the Golden Bears' first five games.
