No. 11 Florida 14, No. 3 LSU 6: Mike Gillislee ran for 146 yards and a pair of second-half touchdowns as the host Gators ended the Tigers’ 18-game regular-season winning streak.
Gillislee, who carried 34 times, ripped off a 12-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter to cap an 85-yard scoring drive that put Florida ahead 7-6.
Safety Matt Elam stripped the ball from wideout Odell Beckham Jr. following a long reception, getting the ball back for Florida. The Gators marched 77 yards as Gillislee again scored from 12 yards out. LSU converted only 1 of 13 third downs and was held to 42 rushing yards.
Leading 3-0 late in the first half, LSU got a big break when Florida’s Jeff Driskel fumbled while getting sacked by Bennie Logan. The Tigers took over at Florida’s 7, but were forced to settle for a second Drew Alleman field goal.
It was 6-0 LSU after a first half that featured eight punts and 10 first downs. Florida has outscored opponents 78-13 in the second half this season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: LSU coach Les Miles fell to 1-3 in Gainesville. … LSU’s last regular-season loss came on Nov. 27, 2010 to Arkansas 31-23. … Florida LB Jelani Jenkins, who had missed two games with a broken thumb, returned but got knocked out by a hamstring injury.
