Oregon State 27, No. 19 UCLA 20
: Sean Mannion threw for a career-high 379 yards and two touchdowns as the Beavers pulled off their second upset of a ranked team in as many games.

Brandin Cooks finished with 175 yards receiving and Markus Wheaton added 150 more for the Beavers (2-0, 1-0 Pac-12), who also defeated then-No. 13 Wisconsin at home two weeks ago.

Mannion staked the Beavers to a 17-3 advantage midway through the second quarter on long scoring strikes of 75 yards to Cooks and 42 yards to Wheaton.

UCLA (3-1, 0-1) rallied with a long touchdown right before intermission and moved within one score again early in the fourth to answer Storm Woods’ first career touchdown, but Trevor Romaine’s 17-yard field goal on the next drive dashed any hopes the Bruins had of overcoming their 27-17 deficit.

Early Heisman Trophy hopeful RB Johnathan Franklin was held to just 45 yards on 12 carries for UCLA, which was denied a 4-0 start for the first time since 2005.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Franklin, who entered this game as the nation’s leading rusher with 180.3 yards per game, rushed eight times for just 15 yards in the first half. … Oregon State, which has yet to trail in either of its two wins, has held its opponent scoreless in five of eight quarters. … The Bruins, one of only two FBS teams to average 300 yards rushing and passing this season, threw for 372 yards but rushed for just 72.
