Doege completed 27 of his 35 passes for 340 yards while Eric Ward added a personal-best three receiving scores for Texas Tech (3-0), which outgained the Lobos 702-127.

Eric Stephens Jr. shredded New Mexico (1-2) for 118 yards on the ground and Kenny Williams added 105 more as the Red Raiders rushed for 325 yards – the first time the team surpassed 300 yards in a game since 1998.

Doege, who had thrown for five touchdowns in a game twice in his career – including last season’s meeting in Albuquerque – matched that total in the first half alone before eclipsing the mark with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Jace Amaro to open the third quarter.

Texas Tech, which outgained the Lobos 455-88 in the first half alone, was nearly flawless early as only a fumble by Williams stopped the Red Raiders from scoring on each of their seven possessions in the first half.
