Jeremy Wright ran for three touchdowns and Teddy Bridgewater completed 19 of 21 passes as the Cardinals pulled away from the visiting Wildcats for the Governor’s Cup.

Bridgewater recorded 11 straight completions at one point and totaled 232 yards passing to lead a balanced Louisville offense. Senorise Perry rushed for 108 yards and Wright added 105. The Cardinals only had one 100-yard rusher in 2011 (Wright).

Louisville produced a touchdown on its first three drives, all of them at least 85 yards, to take a 22-7 halftime lead.

The Cardinals went 99 yards in 15 plays, controlling the ball for 8:21 and capping the drive with a 1-yard run from Wright with 3:11 left in the first quarter. The series included a 23-yard pass from Bridgewater to Damian Copeland on third and 9 from the Louisville 2-yard line and later a fourth-down conversion.

Louisville also tricked Kentucky by going for two, and Will Stein hit Marcus Smith for an 8-0 lead.

The Wildcats answered with Maxwell Smith’s 1-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Robinson, but the Cardinals responded quickly. Perry ran 47 yards for a score with 11:03 left in the second quarter. Louisville went 93 yards in 10 plays for their final touchdown of the first half - a Wright 14-yard run.

Smith was 35-of-50 for 280 yards and two scores. Kentucky had only a pair of 200-yard passing days in 2011 – one by Smith.
