Joseph Randle scored three touchdowns, including the game-winner late in the fourth quarter, and No. 4 Oklahoma State kept its BCS championship hopes alive with a wild 52-45 victory over No. 19 Kansas State on Saturday.
Brandon Weeden threw for a school-record 501 yards and four touchdowns, and with No. 2 Alabama’s loss to No. 1 LSU, the Cowboys (9-0, 6-0 Big 12) will likely move up to second in the BCS rankings.
The Wildcats had a chance to tie it on the game’s final play from the Cowboys' 5, but Collin Klein’s pass was incomplete in the end zone.
The Cowboys took three separate leads in a back-and-forth fourth quarter, but the feisty Wildcats (7-2, 4-2 Big 12) responded almost every time.
Two of Weeden's touchdown passes went to standout wide receiver Justin Blackmon, the second a 54-yard quick slant that gave the Cowboys a 45-38 lead with 4:47 left in the game.
The Wildcats responded only three plays later when Klein scrambled up the middle for a 12-yard touchdown before Oklahoma State ripped off a four-play, 65-yard scoring drive, with Randle giving the Cowboys the lead for good with a 23-yard touchdown burst up the middle with 2:16 to go.
Klein, a junior quarterback, finished with 144 yards rushing and three touchdowns, most of which came in the fourth quarter. He also threw for 231 yards and a score.
Blackmon had 13 receptions for 205 yards for Oklahoma State, which is off to its best since 1945.
