Arizona’s Nick Foles completed his first 17 passes, but it was Heisman Trophy favorite Andrew Luck who won the duel in the desert as No. 6 Stanford routed host Arizona 37-10 on Saturday.

Luck was 20-of-31 passing for 325 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and got a great deal of help from his ground game as Stepfan Taylor rushed for a career-high 153 yards on 22 carries in the Pac-12 Conference opener for both teams.

With Auburn’s loss earlier in the day, Stanford (3-0) has the longest active winning streak in the nation at 11.

Foles (24-of-33, 239 yards) connected with Juron Criner on a 6-yard scoring pass in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 13-10. Criner returned after having appendectomy surgery Sept. 6.

Luck threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Zach Ertz with 5:22 left in the third quarter to give the Cardinal a 23-10 lead. The junior quarterback then connected with Levine Toilolo for a 34-yard scoring pass on the first play of the fourth quarter to put Stanford in command 30-10.

Stanford lost three stars to injury in the first half. Receiver Coby Fleener (head), running back Chris Owusu (arm) and linebacker Shane Skov (knee) all left the field, and only Owusu returned.

Arizona’s (1-2) kicking woes continued as Jaime Salazar missed two field goals (45 amd 36 yards). Salazar, who made a 27-yarder, is 1-for-4 this season.
