Josh Boyce had 134 receiving yards and one touchdown, and No. 23 TCU used a strong second half to beat Louisiana-Monroe 38-17 on Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas.

TCU coach Gary Patterson won his 100th career game, becoming the eighth active FBS coach to top the century mark. Patterson is now just 10 wins shy of breaking Dutch Meyer’s 59-year-old school record of 109 career victories.

The Horned Frogs led only 21-17 at halftime and were actually outgained by the underdog Warhawks in the first half, but Greg McCoy returned the second-half kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown to give TCU a 28-17 lead.

On the following possession, ULM running back Jyruss Edwards fumbled, setting up another TCU touchdown six plays later when Matthew Tucker scored on a 1-yard plunge to make it 35-17.

After allowing 243 first-half yards to Louisiana-Monroe, the TCU defense stiffened after the break, surrendering zero points and only 71 total yards.

Casey Pachall was 15 of 23 for 204 yards and one touchdown for TCU, which has won 10 straight home openers.

The Warhawks — in search of their first bowl berth in program history — entered the game allowing only 59 rushing yards per game, but the Horned Frogs gashed them for 207 yards, led by Waymon James’ 89 on 11 carries.
