Heisman hopeful Andrew Luck threw four touchdowns passes to lead No. 8 Stanford past Oregon State 38-0 in a Pac-10 conference game Saturday night.
The Cardinal (11-1, 8-1) won its seventh straight game and recorded its first 11-win season in school history. With the win and losses by LSU and Boise State over the weekend, the Cardinal neared an at-large berth in a BCS bowl, most likely the Orange Bowl. Oregon clinched the conference title on Friday night.
The Cardinal led 24-0 at the half. Luck threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Zach Ertz and a 43-yarder to Doug Baldwin in the first quarter. He added 30-yard scoring pass to Baldwin in the second quarter.
Oregon State (5-6, 4-4) needs to beat top-ranked Oregon next week to earn a bowl berth. Beavers running back Jacquizz Ridgers was limited to 77 yards on 17 carries and quarterback Ryan Katz threw three interceptions.
Luck finished 21 for 30 passing for 309 yards. Stanford running back Stepfan Taylor had a 62-yard touchdown run and finished with 119 yards on 14 carries.
