Andrew Luck threw for 292 yards and Owen Marecic scored on a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs as No. 9 Stanford held on for a 17-13 victory at Arizona State on Saturday.
Stanford (9-1, 6-1 Pac-10) trailed 13-10 going to the fourth quarter, but the Cardinal put together a 10-play, 85-yard drive capped by Marecic's second touchdown plunge with 5:14 left to take the lead.
Arizona State (4-6, 2-5 Pac-10) got one rushing touchdown and one passing touchdown from Steven Threet, who threw for 158 yards on 16-of-26 passing with an interception.
Luck was 33 of 41 for 292 yards and an interception. Doug Baldwin caught 10 passes for 122 yards for the Cardinal.
Cameron Marshall rushed for 92 yards on 12 carries for the Sun Devils, who were held to 268 total yards. They entered the game averaging 428.4 total yards per game.
Stanford running back Stepfan Taylor had a clear path to the end zone with 1:38 left, but intentionally went down at the 4-yard line so the Cardinal could safely run out the clock.
